Terra Energy and Qatar Charity join forces to empower African youth in the sustainable energy sector

[Kigali, February 22, 2024] – Terra Energy, a youth-led sustainable energy consulting firm, with a mission to tackle Africa’s energy challenges, and Qatar Charity, an international non-governmental organization specializing in development and humanitarian aid are pleased to announce a strategic partnership aimed at empowering African youth in the renewable energy and sustainability sectors through comprehensive training and mentorship initiatives. The partnership was formalized at a virtual event held on Thursday 15 February 2024.

Within the framework of this partnership, Terra Energy will implement a boot camp for Qatar Charity’s orphans, under the “Rufaqa” initiative – a global program by Qatar Charity launched in 2012, that has sponsored more than 190,000 orphans to date. The boot camp will consist of several workshops on renewable energy and the green economy, professional and career development skills, and entrepreneurship. Participants will also benefit from close mentorship provided by Terra Energy’s experts, and access to numerous opportunities to help them enter the job market and launch their own businesses.

This boot camp ultimately aims to prepare young Africans for establishing a career in renewable energy and contribute to a positive social impact in their communities. The boot camp’s concept was developed in collaboration with Qatar Charity, and drawing from Terra Energy’s robust experience in youth engagement.

Dr. Mohamed Alhaj, the Managing Director of Terra Energy, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating:

“We are immensely proud to align our efforts with Qatar Charity in empowering African youth to spearhead the clean energy transition across Africa. This partnership will combine the collective expertise and resources of both organizations to deliver technical and skills-focused training to young African change makers in renewable energy, climate change, and sustainability. The partnership will consist of an intensive skills development boot camp and a mentorship program designed to prepare African youth for the job market and enable them to launch their own businesses.”
